EMERGENCY CLOSINGS AND DELAYS

Making the decision to delay or close school is done with the safety of our students in mind. Road conditions, visibility, temperature, and wind chill are all factors in that decision. As the transportation director and I investigate the road and weather conditions, we also keep in close communication with the other school districts.

When weather conditions make it necessary to delay or close school, we will try to notify you before 6:30 a.m.  A two-hour delay allows for many things.  This gives the village and township crews time to begin clearing the roads without the additional school traffic.  This also allows us to get a better read on the weather and gives us time to clear our property for the start of school.

Information regarding any Fredericktown delays or closings will be broadcast on the following television and radio stations:

Television Radio

4, 6, 10, 28, 68 (WMFD)

WMVO-AM (1300) Mt. Vernon

The Eagle (93.7 FM) Mt. Vernon

KISS FM (98.3) Fredericktown

WTVN (610 AM) Columbus

If you haven’t already done so, you may also wish to be notified through our First Alert System. Call the Board Office and sign up with your email address. You will receive an email alert as soon as a decision has been made.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of all our Fredericktown students.
